Sustainable Web3 Wrapped up its Inaugural Event in Singapore

Sustainable Web3 SG 2023 hosted by Wanxiang Blockchain Labs and Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) Node for Inclusive Fintech (NiFT), with Huawei Cloud as title sponsor, took place today in Singapore, featuring a number of impressive and enlightening discussions centered on Web3 security, infrastructure, RWA, delivered by an eclectic line-up of speakers worldwide.

Sustainable Web3 aims to provide a level playing field for Web3 and innovative finance, bringing together Web3 talents from across the world to share, learn and contribute to a trusted, sustainable internet that genuinely serves the physical world. The event startedwith a welcome speech from LEE Wee Leong, Vice-President of Learning Services at SUSS, followed by an opening address by YU Haiying, Science and Technology Counsellor, Chinese Embassy in Singapore, and an opening speech by Rex LEI, Managing Director, Huawei Cloud Singapore. An official MoU was signed between SUSS and Huawei Cloud during the event, with an ambitious mission to advance research and development in Web3.

In his keynote address themed on sustainable Web3, Du Yu, General Manager of Wanxiang Blockchain Labs noted that Web3, combined with IoT, leads to the greener, more sustainable development of digital infrastructure in compliance with sustainable standards through a transparent and efficient way of investment, management, and co-governance.

In his opening address, Rex LEI, Managing Director of Huawei Cloud Singapore envisioned a more diversified Web3 future powered by Huawei Cloud’s technological and industry resources. “At Huawei, we are committed to R&D on advanced technologies and embrace a down-to-earth spirit. We believe our continued efforts in technological innovations will make a real impact on Web3 mass adoption.”

Prof David LEE Kuo Chuen, Professor (School of Business) of SUSS, underlined in his opening speech the importance of adhering to the original ideals and a people-centered principle. He said: “At SUSS, we advocate the Spirit of Learning by creating enriching learning experiences, with a mission to build an inclusive and resilient society through fintech innovations. A sustainable Web3 ecosystem should be built with data privacy and powered by a blockchain-driven community to foster financial inclusiveness and ingenuity.”

Sessions of the inaugural Sustainable Web3 took place separately at Heliconia Ballroom and Hibiscus Ballroom, bringing together nearly 100 speakers from Huawei Cloud, Wanxiang Blockchain Labs, SUSS, MAS, and other regulatory bodies, projects and venture capital firms to provide their latest insights on topics through 16 speeches and 15 roundtables focusing on topics that span from green finance, security to payment, compliance, and regulation landscape.

The day unfolded with 16 keynote speeches and 15 panel discussions, with experts sharing perspectives on the current landscape and future trajectory of Web3, as well as addressing challenges and opportunities in the industry. Beyond the insightful content, the conference facilitated networking and knowledge exchange, fostering connections among professionals, researchers, and industry leaders.

In conclusion, the Sustainable Web3 SG 2023 conference was a remarkable gathering that brought together key players in the Web3 space. The insights shared, collaborations formed, and discussions held underscored the growing significance of Web3 technologies in shaping the future of digital infrastructure.
