Programme Overview

The Master of Finance (MFIN) programme, the Graduate Diploma in Financial Technology (GDFT) programme, and the Graduate Certificate in Financial Technology (GCFT) programme offered by the School of Business at the Singapore University of Social Sciences [SUSS] aim to help finance professionals and those in the PMET segment to gain knowledge of financial innovations and technologies, and to support upskilling to meet work challenge posed by advancements in technology and the disruptive changes in applications, processes, products, as well as business models that are transforming financial services industry.

These programmes cater to entrepreneurs, mid-career bankers, executives and finance professionals to acquire professional advancement and deepen their knowledge of finance, financial technologies and financial innovations. SUSS alumni who are looking for upgrading opportunities in finance area will find that these programmes are good options for them to continue with lifelong learning.

Unique features of the programmes

  • They focus on financial technologies and financial innovations.
  • They are stackable and thus in line with the nation’s emphasis on stackable credentials that facilitate lifelong learning. Students who have graduated with GCFT are entitled to course credit recognition when they further enroll into GDFT and MFIN programmes. Students who have graduated with GDFT are entitled to course credit recognition when they enroll into MFIN programme.
  • Deviating from traditional finance programmes, these programmes emphasise more on technical know-how, programming skills and hands-on lab training.

Entrepreneurs, mid-career bankers, executives and professionals who wish to acquire professional advancement and deepen their knowledge of finance, financial technologies and financial innovations.

Curriculum Structure

  • GCFT students are required to complete 15cu of coursework. Most courses are based on a 5cu configuration. The programme duration is half a (0.5) year and the maximum candidature period is one (1) year. Students have to maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5 in their coursework as part of the fulfillment of the GCFT programme.
  • GDFT students are required to complete 30cu of coursework. Most courses are based on a 5cu configuration. The programme duration is one (1) year and the maximum candidature period is two (2) years. Students have to maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5 in their coursework as part of the fulfillment of the GDFT programme.
  • MFIN students are required to complete 60cu of coursework. Most courses are based on a 5cu configuration. The programme duration is one and a half (1.5) years and the maximum candidature period is four (4) years. Students have to maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.0 in their coursework as part of the fulfillment of the MFIN programme.
  • These are programmes with evening (during weekday) or weekend classes. Students can work in the day and study in the evening.

Admission Requirements

Applicants need to fulfill the following criteria for admission:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance or in related disciplines (e.g. Accountancy, Economics, Statistics, IT). Applicants with relevant work experience but with other relevant qualifications may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Applicants with social outreach or volunteering experience is an added advantage.
  • Have completed a statistics course at an undergraduate level or higher, without which the applicants may be required to take a preparatory course on Statistics to fulfill this requirement.
  • No GMAT or GRE score is required.

Shortlisted applicants may be required to undergo one or more interviews and/or take such written admission or other evaluation tests as may prescribed by the university from time to time.

Concession / Sponsorship

  • Applicants who are 60 years ​old and above will enjoy 20% course fee concession.
  • Applicants who are graduates (at Master’s or Bachelor’s level) of the Singapore Institute of Management and SUSS will enjoy 20% course fee concession.

Students will enjoy only one of the two categories of concession.

  • SUSS Alumni (graduates of Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees awarded by SUSS) will also enjoy an additional 30% course fee concession for the first two master’s courses*.
